Schaumburg Township properties to be reassessed

Cook County Assessor Joseph Berrios's office will reassess all properties in Schaumburg Township this year, with a tentative date of Aug. 16.

Township Assessor John R. Lawson predicts an overall increase based on reassessments in surrounding townships.

Lawson suggests all Schaumburg Township homeowners check the website cookcountyassessor.com under Appeal and Closing Deadlines.

Cook County will post the actual reassessment date under Schaumburg Township closer Aug. 16.

The Cook County Assessor's office reassesses homes every three years, and the appeal period is open for only 30 days. All property taxpayers in Schaumburg Township will be receiving a notice in the mail. Once this notice is received, an appeal can be filed either at the Schaumburg Township Assessor's office or at cookcountyassessor.com.
