Softball: Fehlman Memorial All-Star Game set for Monday

The 13th annual Fehlman Memorial Senior All-Star Game will be played on Monday at Judson University in Elgin.

The event features the top senior softball players from around the Fox Valley area and is dedicated to the memory of Dave and Robbie Fehlman. Dave Fehlman was a past president of the Fox Valley Renegades fastpitch softball organization and a staunch supporter of fastpitch softball in the Fox Valley area. His daughter, Lissa, was a former standout at St. Edward High School and Evansville University who also played for the Renegades and the Northern Illinois Lightning. Dave Fehlman passed away in 2007.

Dave's son, Robbie, as a fixture at Lissa's games and was tragically killed by a motorist just after the family moved to Colorado in 2012.

The coaches for this year's game are Jim Wolfsmith of Bartlett and Erica Maisto of Burlington Central. They will be assisted by their high school coaches - Brad Hunt and Rob Call of Bartlett and Sarah Kisch and Lowell Orange of Burlington Central.

The players invited to participate in this year's game are:

TEAM WOLFSMITH - Danielle Kirby, Katie Fornoff and Alyssa Nowak of Bartlett; Katie Kolb, Jordan Hall and Kelly Rinker of St. Charles East; Samantha Wahl of Larkin; Allison Jasinski of Marengo; Megan Baczewski, Hayley O'Mara and Jessica Shields of Huntley; Teaghan Richman, Sarah Murray and Emily Borg of Jacobs; Aly Snider, Ellie Lapi and Joslyn Nelson-Torres of Hampshire; Allison Stratman, Lindsay Zdroik and Rachel Lesh of St. Edward; Alex Johnson of Prairie Ridge.

TEAM MAISTO - Emily Kisch, Kelly Wiater and Jill Niesendorf of Burlington Central; Sarah Brauer and Rachel Fanella of Geneva; Jessica Daley of Streamwood; Courtney Davis, Mary Lynn Clausen and Meg Cohrs of Kaneland; Jessica Rago, Rachel Turner and Madison Latham of Elgin; Allison Hausl, Amanda James and Samantha Hausl of St. Charles North; Hannah Gordon, Mariah Spivey, Alexa Rogalla and Amber Derr of South Elgin; Lariss Loftus of Crystal Lake South; Brianne Prank of Cary-Grove.

Pregame festivities will begin approximately 6 p.m. and a first pitch will be thrown out by former St. Edward and Northern Illinois Lightning coach Jaci Corn, who has been instrumental in the ongoing success of the event.

The game is sponsored by the Northern Illinois Lightning, Judson University, the Daily Herald and the Chicago Bandits.

Admission is free and there will be a 50-50 raffle to help offset the cost of the event.
