McHenry man charged with stabbing wife to death

A 30-year-old McHenry man was charged Tuesday with stabbing his wife to death at their home early Monday, authorities said.

Anthony Harrison was charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the death of Laura K. Harrison, also 30, McHenry police announced Tuesday in a news release.

Authorities were called to the couple's home on the 4300 block of West Parkway Avenue just before 9 a.m. Monday, finding Laura Harrison dead and Anthony Harrison injured, authorities said. At the time, police said the circumstances seemed suspicious.

According to a criminal complaint, authorities said Anthony Harrison used a knife to stab his wife in the neck. An autopsy performed Tuesday morning at the McHenry County coroner's office revealed Laura Harrison died from sharp and blunt force injuries to her neck.

Anthony Harrison was treated at the scene for injuries and later transported by Flight for Life to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He remained there under police supervision Tuesday night and was to be transported to the McHenry County jail upon his release from the hospital.

Harrison's bail was set at $3 million, of which he would need to post 10 percent to be released.

He is due in court July 6.

According to a Chicago Tribune report, Laura Harrison was a former Naperville resident.

Police said the matter was an isolated case and there was no danger to the public, though investigation by the McHenry County Major Investigative Assistance Team and McHenry Police Department continued.
