Rep. Hultgren gives commencement address at TMA graduation

The Technology & Manufacturing Association of Illinois this week presented diplomas to the 46 graduates of their 2016 Related Theory Training Program.

The graduates represented three distinct manufacturing disciplines: mold making, tool and die making and CNC programming.

"I am very pleased to present these fine individuals to you," stated Patrick Osborne, TMA vice president of training & education. "They have successfully completed what we consider to be the 'Gold Standard' in manufacturing education."

The TMA Related Theory Apprentice Training Program has been assisting member companies in training their apprentices for 76 years. It has been one of the largest, most recognized precision metalworking apprenticeship programs in the United States.

Family, friends, and employers along with dozens of TMA members, TMA board members and staff joined the graduates for the ceremony at Stonegate Conference Center in Hoffman Estates.

U.S Rep. Randy Hultgren (IL-14) provided the commencement address. "You all have done something very significant and we are here to celebrate you. We are a nation that innovates, discovers and makes things. We have a rich history and a bright future in manufacturing and you are a part of that future," he remarked. "Now I have a challenge for you. We need you to spread the word to your friends and relatives that manufacturing is a great career. Help us grow manufacturing."

Machine Concepts Inc. President Albert Raczynski, a TMA member, manufacturer and entrepreneur offered his well-earned advice, "Manufacturing is the backbone of this country. So you graduates should be proud of what you are doing. It's a great time to be involved in manufacturing."

About TMA: Eight small manufacturing companies who thought they could better themselves by associating with one another founded TMA in 1925. Through the years, members established programs and services to help their businesses grow and prosper, train their employees, and provide medical and retirement benefits. TMA has grown into an almost 1,000 member nonprofit organization representing more than 30,000 employees of precision manufacturing and supplier companies throughout Illinois.
