Eighth library teen talent show seeks performers

Live auditions for the Aurora Public Library's eighth annual teen talent show and competition are set for June 22, 23 and 25 at three library locations.

Auditions are limited to 3½ minutes. All talents are welcome, and competitors do not need to be Aurora residents. Those who audition must be between the ages of 12 and 18 on the date of the competition, July 30, 2016.

Audition times and dates are:

• 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, at the Santori Library, 101 S. River St.;

• 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at the West Branch, 233 S. Constitution Drive;

• 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 25, at the Eola Road Branch, 555 S. Eola Road.

A signed parental permission form (available for downloading at aurorapubliclibrary.org; click on TEENS) is required. Forms also will be available at the auditions. Performances will be judged by Aurora Public Library staff members. A CD player will be available for those singing to a background track. There is no preregistration. Performers will audition on a first-come, first-served basis. Finalists who will advance to the July 30 competition will be notified by mail.

The eighth annual competition, planned by Aurora Public Library's Teen Committee, is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at Copley Theatre in downtown Aurora, with Danielle Tufano from radio station 95.9 The River as emcee.

A mandatory dress rehearsal is planned for the evening of Thursday, July 28, also at the Copley Theatre.

Both the audition and the competition are free.

Last year's winner was Olivia Ports of Aurora, an Aurora Christian High School student. She will be the guest performer at this year's show.

The winner will receive a trophy. The performers, returning winner, hosts, judges and teen volunteers all donate their time and efforts to this community event. For more information, call (630) 264-4125.
