Diamond Lake Carp Fest

Mundelein Park & Recreation District and the Diamond Lake Preservation Alliance will host the first Diamond Lake Carp Fest, Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, June 5, on Diamond Lake. Fishing for Carp Fest will be allowed at: Diamond Lake Beach, 1016 Diamond Lake Road; Bob Lewandowski Park (North Shore Park) on South Prairie Street; or on the lake from a boat. Participants are encouraged to catch as many carp as they can and turn in their fish to the collection site across the street from the Mundelein Park District's boat launch at the northern end of the Gale Street Inn parking lot, 935 N. Diamond Lake Road, Mundelein. Prizes will be awarded for biggest carp, most carp and smallest carp. The goal is to get as many carp out of the lake as possible due to the negative effect they have on the lake's health. For information, contact Margaret Resnick at (847) 388-5455 or by email at mresnick@mundeleinparks.org.
