Garden to table program

The Waukegan Park District, with support from the Liberty Prairie Foundation, will offer a Garden to Table program on Tuesdays, starting June 21, 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the Jane Addams Center in Bowen Park. Participation is by application and the deadline to apply is June 8. Applications can be obtained online or in person at the Belvidere Recreation Center, Jack Benny Center for the Arts, or the Field House Sports and Fitness Center. The program will expose families to gardening, good nutrition choices, nature, and ensure quality family time with families preparing a meal together each week. The first 30 minutes will be spent in the garden and remaining time will be devoted to identifying healthy foods, nutrition education or nature activities, preparing a nutritious meal and eating together as a community. Families will be asked to volunteer an additional 30 minutes of their own time to help maintain the Children's Garden as part of the program. For information, call Jennifer at (847) 360-4705.
