Recycling event Saturday in Elk Grove Village

Elk Grove Village will host a recycling event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 4, at Fire Station 8, 1000 Oakton St. Residents from Elk Grove Village and other SWANCC communities are eligible to participate, but materials will not be accepted from non-SWANCC residents, businesses, schools or institutions, and IDs will be checked for verification of residency http://swancc.org/swancc-who-is-swancc.

As residents drive up in their vehicles, workers will remove the paper documents and electronics, as residents are asked to stay in their cars. Acceptable documents can include medical forms, bank statements, personal files and retired tax forms. Residents are allowed to bring up to six file-size boxes or paper bags and are asked to remove any metal clips or binders and not to put paper in plastic bags before dropping off.

In addition to this one-day event, electronics collection sites are available to all SWANCC residents including: Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Glenview Transfer Station, 1151 N River Road, Des Plaines; Mondays from 10:a.m. to noon at the Hoffman Estates Village Hall, 1900 Hassel Road; Wednesdays from 10:a.m. to noon at the Mount Prospect Public Works, 1700 W Central Road; and Thursdays at the Winnetka Public Works, 1390 Willow Road. SWANCC does not accept dehumidifiers, humidifiers, air conditioners, vacuum cleaners, refrigerators and large home appliances at these events.
