Cast a line for great memories at the Schaumburg Park District's annual Father's Day Fishing Derby, presented by Schaumburg Bank & Trust, a Wintrust Community Bank.

Dads, grandpas and children are invited to enjoy a morning of fishing from 9 a.m.-noon, June 18, at Volkening Lake, 900 W. Schaumburg Road. Participants will be divided into age groups of 3 to 5; 6 to 8; 9 to 12; 13 to 17; and a fathers' group. Prizes will be awarded for the shortest, longest, most fish caught and most unique catch in each age group. The event includes a hot dog, chips and soda for lunch.

"Enjoy fresh air, fishing, a walk around scenic Volkening Lake and a hot dog picnic," said Stacy Johnson, assistant aquatics supervisor. "Families will fish together and win great prizes."

Cost for the derby is $10 per person for residents and $15 per person for nonresidents. Preregistration ends Friday, June 17. Day-of registration will be available at Volkening Lake for $15 per person for residents and $20 per person for nonresidents. Admission is free for children ages 2 and younger.
