Lake Zurich house fire under investigation

An investigation continues into a house fire that erupted Wednesday night in Lake Zurich.

Officials said no one was hurt in the fire, which occurred in the 1300 block of Louis Court.

Firefighters called to the home about 9:35 p.m. arrived to find heavy smoke coming from its roof. While the investigation continues, officials said it appears the fire started in an attic space above a garage.

Smoke and fire damage occurred in the attic, roof and interior of the home, and the structure was deemed uninhabitable. An estimate of the damage's cost was not available, and the American Red Cross helped residents find temporary lodging, officials said.

Lake Zurich firefighters were helped at the scene by the Arlington Heights, Barrington, Barrington Countryside, Buffalo Grove, Cary, Countryside, Lake Forest, Lincolnshire, Long Grove and Palatine fire departments. The Fox River Grove and Wheeling fire departments covered Lake Zurich's stations while they were at the scene.
