Former youth home worker arrested for alleged sex with ward

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Court documents say an Evansville woman has been charged with sexual misconduct with a minor after allegedly having sex with a ward of the state living at a youth home where she worked.

The Evansville Courier & Press reports (http://bit.ly/1XRHeJz ) 24-year-old Justine D. Gerling was arrested May 18. She's free on bond.

The boy was living at Evansville's Hillcrest Washington Youth Home. Court documents don't disclose Gerling's job but say she was in a position of authority over the boy, who was 15 at the time

A probable cause affidavit says the boy told police that he and Gerling had sex at his sister's home in Warrick County.

Hillcrest issued a statement saying Gerling resigned in March 2015.

A telephone call to Gerling's home seeking comment rang unanswered Tuesday.
