District 214 board re-elects officers

Township High School District 214 Board of Education on Thursday, May 12 re-elected Alva Kreutzer president and Todd Younger vice president, both for one-year terms.

"Thanks for the opportunity to serve another year as president," said Kreutzer.

An Elk Grove Village resident for more than 30 years, Kreutzer has served on the District 214 Board since 1999. She has built a long history of community service, including four years as a Community Consolidated District 59 board member, membership on the Elk Grove Village Community Service Board and Elk Grove Village Zoning Board of Appeals, and PTO presidencies. She is an active member of the Elk Grove Village Lions Club. She and her husband, Daniel, have two children, both Elk Grove High School graduates. She has received state and national recognition for her volunteer work.

Younger, an Arlington Heights resident and District 214 alumnus, was appointed to fill a vacant board seat in August 2011, and subsequently elected to a four-year term in April, 2013. He grew up in Mount Prospect and graduated from John Hersey High School in 1982. Younger is active in the Chicago area as senior vice president for Wintrust Bank, leading a commercial banking division in the Northwest suburbs. He and his wife, Kathy, have a son who graduated from Prospect High School in 2013, and a daughter who is a senior at the school.

Kreutzer and Younger were first elected as president and vice-president of the District 214 Board of Education in April 2015.
