Mundelein school's bomb threat unfounded, police say

Mundelein police investigated a bomb threat at Carl Sandburg Middle School today and determined it was unfounded, police said.

The threat was called into the school, 855 W. Hawley St., at 11:22 a.m. and police were immediately notified and responded, Mundelein police said in a release.

A short investigation determined the threat was not credible. Police and school district officials determined it was not necessary to evacuate the school.

"The school district and police department are committed to keeping our schools safe and would like to reassure the public that at no time was any staff or students in any danger," the news release said.
