Author to discuss soldiers' 'shenanigans' in Iraq
Author Piers Platt visits Cantigny Park on Wednesday, June 1, to discuss his book, "Combat and Other Shenanigans: Tales of the Absurd from a Deployment to Iraq."
The program begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Cantigny Park Visitors Center, 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton. Admission and parking are free. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Published in 2014, "Combat and Other Shenanigans" is Platt's memoir of his deployment to Iraq as a tank and scout platoon leader in 2004. The book details the unusual and sometimes hilarious antics of American soldiers.
Platt joined the U.S. Army in 2002 and spent four years on active duty, achieving the rank of lieutenant. A native of Boston, he is The New York Times best-selling author of the Janus Group science fiction series. He's also penned numerous short stories and a book on how firearms transformed early infantry tactics. When not writing, Platt works as a strategy consultant in New York City. "Combat and Other Shenanigans" will be for sale in the Cantigny Shop the evening of June 1. The author will sign copies after the program.
