Streamwood man dies in Hampshire Twp. motorcycle crash

A 49-year-old man from Streamwood has died after a motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon in Hampshire Township, authorities said.

Kane County Sheriff's deputies were called about 3:57 p.m. to a crash involving two motorcycles on Brier Hill Road, south of Berner Road.

The two drivers were part of a larger group of motorcyclists traveling north on Brier Hill when they had difficulty negotiating a curve and veered off the road on its east side, Lt. Chris Collins said in a news release.

Both injured drivers were rushed to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, where John Peneschi later died from injuries he suffered in the crash, Collins said.

Peneschi was driving a 2003 Harley Davidson. The other driver, Vince Cincinello, a 27-year-old from Bloomingdale who was driving a 2013 Harley, was being treated for injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

No charges have been filed as of Saturday night, and speed may have been a factor that led to the crash, Collins said.

As of 6:45 p.m., a portion of Brier Hill Road remained closed to traffic while police continue to investigate.
