Jail, probation for Elk Grove Village teen who molested girl
An Elk Grove Village teen who prosecutors say molested a 13-year-old girl pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
Jose Rivera-Mejia, 19, was sentenced to 180 days in jail and two years of probation in exchange for his guilty plea. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender and pay $714 in fines, court records show.
Prosecutors say he met the girl through friends and communicated with her on social media. Rivera-Mejia drove the girl to various locations in Arlington Heights and Rolling Meadows where they parked and engaged in sexual contact several times between December and February, prosecutors said during his bond hearing earlier this year.
Police arrested Rivera-Mejia after the victim's older sister noticed messages from him on the younger girl's cellphone.
