Throughout suburbs, cops raise the roof for Special Olympics

Hundreds of law enforcement officers all over the suburbs are staking out Dunkin' Donuts rooftops this morning to raise money for Special Olympics Illinois - hoping to beat last year's statewide total of $540,000 collected.

In what in an annual tradition, suburban officers join other cops from around the state on top of Dunkin' Donuts, calling on customers below to donate to the cause.

Illinois law enforcement is so dedicated to Special Olympics that it has its own fundraising arm, called the Torch Run.
