Softball: No-hitter for St. Charles North's Walters; Dundee-Crown's Ruggles Ks 23

Natalie Walters fired a 5-inning no-hitter and had 3 hits and 2 RBI Thursday to lead the St. Charles North softball team to a 10-0 Upstate Eight River win over Streamwood. She struck out 12 and walked 2.

Allison Hausl also had 3 hits with a triple, double and 2 RBI for the North Stars (21-4, 15-2) while Jordyn Wolfe (2 hits, 3B, 2 RBI), Maddie Webb (3 hits, 3B) and Alyssa Eby (2B, RBI) also contributed to the SCN offense.

Streamwood slipped to 11-17 overall and 6-12 in the UEC.

Dundee-Crown 1, Woodstock North 0: Sydney Ruggles struck out 23 and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the 12th inning as the Chargers (16-17) won this Fox Valley Conference crossover. Ruggles, who allowed 4 hits and 3 walks, led off the 12th with a single, went to third on a double from Deanna Origer (3 hits) and scored on a sacrifice fly from Hannah Gestrich. Claire Weeks (2 hits) had a triple for D-C and Maddie Pautz added a double.

St. Charles East 10, Batavia 0: Jordan Hall allowed just 3 hits with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks as the Saints (29-4, 15-3) won this UEC River game. Megan Daly had a double and an RBI for SCE while Jordan Hieber (2 RBI) and Hall had 2 hits each. Rachael Lovestrand had a double for Batavia (18-12, 10-6).

Burlington Central 9, Johnsburg 1: Kristina Ahlers went 3-for-3 with a home run, triple and 3 RBI for the Rockets (23-8, 13-2) in this Big Northern East win. Kelly Wiater had 2 hits with a double for BC, Gretchen Schrubbe added 3 hits with a double and an RBI, Danielle Yurgil had a double and an RBI, Ashley Ratliff 2 hits and Madison Leone a double. Ratliff was the winning pitcher, allowing 7 hits with 8 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Huntley 11, Woodstock 1: Jenna Lawler threw a 6-inning no-hitter for the Red Raiders (22-8) in this FVC crossover. She struck out 2 and walked 1. Jessica Shields (2 hits), Rylie Porretto (HR, 3 RBI), Hayley O'Mara (2 hits), Megan Baczewski (2B, RBI) and Taylor Pacana (2 hits) led the Huntley offense.

Hampshire 4, Jacobs 3: In an FVC crossover, Amber Seyller scored the game-winning run on a dropped third strike in the top of the ninth inning for the Whip-Purs (17-16). Melissa Esparza (RBI), Peyton DeChant (2B) and Sarah Bowen each had 2 hits for Hampshire and Joslyn Nelson was the winning pitcher. Sarah Murray had 3 hits with a double for Jacobs (9-12) while Emily Borg (2 RBI) and Teaghan Richman (RBI) had 2 hits each. Alexis Addante added a double for the Golden Eagles.

Grayslake Central 1, Cary-Grove 0: Rachel Stanley allowed just 4 hits and no earned runs with 4 strikeouts and no walks for Cary-Grove (9-18) in this FVC crossover loss.

CL South 12, Grayslake North 4: In another FVC crossover, Emily Sulikowski had 3 hits and 3 RBI and Sam Schetti added 2 hits and 2 RBI for Crystal Lake South (12-12). Christina Toniolo was the winning pitcher.

ACC 6, Fenton 0: Danielle Brown threw a 3-hitter with 13 strikeouts and no walks and went 3-for-3 at the plate with 2 doubles and 2 RBI to lead Aurora Central (14-14, 8-7) to a Metro Suburban West win. Val Litrenta had 2 triples for the Chargers while Paige Miller had 2 hits and 2 RBI and Casey Feltes added 2 hits with a triple.

South Elgin 8, Wheaton Academy 6: In nonconference action, Alissa Hargett (2 RBI), Alexa Rogalla (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Bailey McClure (2 hits, 2B), Geneva Pollman (2 hits), Graceanne Aldred (2 hits) and Erin Bradford (3 hits, 4 RBI) led the Storm (18-16) to the win. Pollman was the winning pitcher.

Kaneland 10, Genoa-Kingston 2: Meg Cohrs had 4 hits with a home run, triple, 2 doubles and 3 RBI while Morgan Weber added 4 hits with 2 triples, a double and 2 RBI to lead the Knights (19-14) to a nonconference win. Lexi Abruzzo (2 hits, RBI) and Aly Jesionowski (3 hits, 2B, 3B, RBI) also contributed. Jesionowski was the winning pitcher, allowing 4 hits with 8 strikeouts and 3 walks.
