Former Arlington Heights firefighter gets $175,000 settlement

A former Arlington Heights firefighter will receive $175,000 in a legal settlement with the village.

Timothy Franzen had been seeking free health insurance from the village under the Illinois Public Safety Employee Benefits Act after a court ordered the Fire Pension Board to grant him a line-of-duty disability pension, according to village documents.

The village board approved settling the case in September, but on Monday approved transferring the money amount agreed upon.
