Mundelein's Got Talent to highlight weekend

Young dancers in flowing outfits floated across the stage in harmony as they rehearsed for the last time before the weekend's performances of "Mundelein's Got Talent" at Mundelein High School.

More than 200 dancers will participate in the Mundelein Park District dance recital, featuring students of all skill levels performing creative dance routines and exhibiting beautiful costumes.

"I think it's very exciting. It's wonderful to watch these kids grow every year. It's just amazing to watch then go from little to big and increase in talent," said dance instructor Rian Wienckowski as she directed two dancers during dress rehearsal. "Audiences can expect to see a variety of choreography and songs, and they can expect a good family atmosphere."

Saturday's performance highlights the Company Showcase that includes the petite, junior, intermediate, senior and advanced companies that have competed in multiple dance competitions throughout the area. Sunday's performances will include all of the dancers ranging from age 3 to adult.

"Mundelein's Got Talent" features ballet, jazz, hip-hop and tap dancing routines to such songs as "Step In Time," "Move It Like This," Hand Jive" and "You'll Be in My Heart."

The performances are Saturday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m. and two shows on Sunday, May 22, at 1 and 5 p.m. Tickets for the show are $8 at the door, with children under 3 free with a paying adult.

The Petite Company dances to "Mister Mom" during dress rehearsal for "Mundelein's Got Talent" Thursday at Mundelein High School. The shows will be presented Saturday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m. and two shows on Sunday, May 22, at 1 and 5 p.m. Gilbert R. Boucher II/gboucher@dailyherald.com
