Conant High School band to perform at Indy 500

More than 100 members of the Conant High School Marching Band in Hoffman Estates are excitedly preparing for their performance in the Indy 500 Festival Parade in Indianapolis over Memorial Day weekend.

The band will perform not only in the noon parade on Saturday, May 28, but also in the opening production of the famous auto race itself at 8 a.m. Sunday, May 29.

The Conant band will be among 18 performing in the parade, only five of which are from outside Indiana. No others are from the Chicago area.

Among the other activities in store during the weekend trip are a tour of Lucas Oil Stadium - home of the Indianapolis Colts - and a visit to the Rhythm! Discovery Center, an interactive museum on the history and culture of percussion music.

On the evening before the race, band members will unwind at a leisure center offering bowling, laser tag, mini golf and arcade games.
