Buffalo Theatre Ensemble returning to College of DuPage

Buffalo Theatre Ensemble will return to Glen Ellyn this fall after a two-year absence.

The professional Equity company, marking its 30th anniversary, unveiled its three-play season on Wednesday as officials celebrated Buffalo Theatre Ensemble once again serving as the resident theater company at College of DuPage's McAninch Arts Center.

"The MAC is so happy to welcome BTE back home and looking forward to a partnership that delivers first-class plays and comedies which support local professional artists," says MAC Director Diana Martinez.

BTE was founded in 1986. The college ended its relationship with the theater in 2014, but students and theater fans have pushed for its return since.

The college will help support the theater financially for two years as it works to build revenue and establish itself as a nonprofit organization. The theater will receive $131,422 the first year and $119,000 the second.

"It's been a long hard struggle since the ensemble went on hiatus in May 2014," Artistic Director Connie Canaday Howard said in a statement, hailing the company's "exciting new chapter."

Buffalo Theatre Ensemble will start its new season with the farce "Don't Dress for Dinner," by French playwright Marc Camoletti, running Sept. 9 to Oct. 9. Next up is David Lindsay-Abaire's Tony Award-winning "Good People." The play runs Feb. 3 to March 5, 2017.

The season ends with Alan Ayckbourn's 2005 comedy, "Improbable Fiction," on stage from May 4 to June 4, 2017.

Performance times and ticket prices are not yet available. Information will be at atthemac.org in the coming weeks.
