Girls soccer: Prospect blanks Zion-Benton
Shawna Stokes earned a hat trick and Faith Fitzsimmons and Ella Marzolf each added 1 goal as Prospect's girls soccer team advanced past Zion-Benton with a 5-0 decision in a Highland Park regional semifinal Tuesday.
Mehgan Rickett recorded the shutout in goal as the Knights improved to 13-5-4 and earned a spot in Saturday's 2 p.m. regional final against the winner of Wednesday's matchup between No. 6 seed Warren and No. 12 Highland Park.
Mundelein 1, Buffalo Grove 0: The visiting Mustangs advanced to a 6 p.m. Friday regional championship matchup against Libertyville at Buffalo Grove by topping the Mid-Suburban East champions.
Barrington 12, Wheeling 0: The top-seeded Fillies advanced to the regional final round at 6 p.m. Friday against the winner of Wednesday's Palatine-Stevenson matchup.
St. Viator 2, Antioch 0: The Lions defeated the Class 2A regional host Sequoits to earn a 5 p.m. Friday regional final matchup against top-seeded Deerfield.
Glenbrook North 2, Maine West 1: The seventh-seeded Spartans moved ahead to a 6 p.m. Friday regional final at Maine West against No. 2 seed Loyola.
Maine South 4, Elk Grove 0: Elk Grove bowed out of the posteason against the Hawks, who will meet Glenbrook South in a 2 p.m. Saturday regional final at Elk Grove.
Geneva 4, Hoffman Estates 0: Kyleigh Dominguez scored 3 goals for the regional host Vikings as the Hawks got 6 saves from Francesa Van.
