Chicago's Goodman Theatre opens new education center

CHICAGO - Chicago's Goodman Theatre is opening its new education center this week with events that include an open house on Saturday.
The Alice Rapoport Center for Education and Engagement will be nicknamed "the Alice." The 10,000-square-foot facility adjoins the theater and has space for classes, lectures, discussions and performances.
Events at the Alice this week include a screening of the 1961 film "A Raisin in the Sun" on Thursday evening. The movie was adapted from a play by Lorraine Hansberry, whose work "The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window" is currently on stage at the Goodman.
The Alice is named for a Goodman trustee, chair of the theater's Education and Community Engagement Committee and advocate for the theater's outreach efforts.
