Woman escapes serious injury after three-story fall at Hoffman Estates hospital

A 37-year-old woman from St. Paul, Minnesota, was treated for minor injuries Monday evening after she fell from the third level of the parking garage at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates and landed on the grass below.

Hoffman Estates police Sgt. Mark Mueller said the woman had just been released as a patient from the hospital and was drinking alcohol with a friend in the parking garage. When she attempted to sit down in the garage about 6:40 p.m., the slipped and fell out of the garage, police said.

When first-responders arrived outside the parking garage at 1555 Barrington Road, the woman was alert and breathing, Mueller said.

She was treated at the medical center and discharged Monday night.
