Lisle man charged in burglaries to vehicles

A 45-year-old Lisle man has been charged with two counts of burglary and was being held Tuesday in DuPage County jail after police said he took items from two unlocked vehicles in the village.

Police said they responded at 12:23 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a man trying to get into unlocked vehicles near Southport and Lacey avenues. They said they found Bernardo D. Leonardo of the 1000 block of Lacey Avenue in the area and later learned he had items that were taken from vehicles on the 4600 block of Main Street and the 1000 block of Lacey.

Police said they recovered loose change, sunglasses and a GPS. They're asking anyone else who may have had items taken from their vehicles during the overnight hours of May 16 to call the detective division at (630) 271-4200.
