Baseball: Streamwood, Batavia, Bartlett, West Aurora notch UEC wins

Adam Sojda tossed a 2-hitter with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks Monday to lead the Streamwood baseball team to a 10-0 Upstate Eight River win over Larkin.

Leading the offense for the Sabres (8-19, 7-14) were Keagan Cordone (2B), Jesse Rico (3B, RBI), Colin Caminitti (2B, RBI) and Jake Painter (2 hits, RBI).

Andy Bonnot and Joey Rahn had the only hits for Larkin (7-22, 3-18).

Batavia 8, Elgin 5: Glenn Albanese had 2 hits with a triple and an RBI and Andrew Costigan 3 hits with a double and an RBI for Batavia (17-10, 12-8) in this UEC River game. Tyler Kledzik and Kyle Niemiec each had 2 hits for the Bulldogs and Brent Norkus was the winning pitcher. Eddy Ramos (2B, RBI), Brandon Stork (RBI) and Matt Turner had 2 hits each for Elgin (6-24, 4-15). Stork suffered the loss on the mound.

Bartlett 12, East Aurora 2: Cameron Mays had 3 hits with a home run, double and 4 RBI to lead the Hawks (11-17, 8-10) to this UEC Valley win. Also contributing to the Bartlett offense were Tripp Paris (2 hits, 2 RBI), Mike Prang (2 hits, HR, RBI), Brad Nowak (2B), Scott Ruedel (2B) and winning pitcher Scott Palmer (2 hits, 3B, 2 RBI), who allowed just 4 hits with 2 strikeouts and 1 walk.

West Aurora 9, West Chicago 7: West Aurora scored 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out this UEC Valley win. Ryan Becker (2 hits, RBI), Logan Love (2 hits, RBI), Connor Palmby (2 RBI), Jake Lipscomb (3 hits, 2 RBI), Jake Arsenault (3 hits, RBI) and Cody Wyeth (2 RBI) each had doubles for the Blackhawks (11-13, 9-9) with Love recording two. Joe Griffin was the winning pitcher in relief.

Jacobs 5, Cary-Grove 4: Daniel Solomon's double in the top of the seventh inning scored Cameron Wilson, who had doubled, with the game-winning run as the Golden Eagles (19-11, 9-7) won this Fox Valley Conference Valley Division game. Stevie Krueger added 2 hits for Jacobs while Wilson and Salomon (2 RBI) had 3 hits each. Johnny Rohde picked up the win in relief. Collin Walsh had 2 hits for Cary-Grove (21-9, 11-4) and Max Nielson a double. Bel Dolezal suffered the loss.

McHenry 15, CL South 7: Ethan Weinandy had 3 hits with a double and 2 RBI for Crystal Lake South (22-5, 11-5) in this FVC Valley loss. Griffin Bright added 2 hits and 2 RBI for the Gators and Jason DeCicco had a double.

Huntley 3, Dundee-Crown 2: Tyler Koss doubled and then scored the game-winning run on an error in the bottom of the seventh inning as Huntley (17-13, 8-8) won this FVC Valley contest. Cam Reed picked up the win in relief. Ryan Denz had a double and an RBI for the Chargers (13-14, 8-8). Matt Weichmann suffered the loss despite allowing just 3 hits.

ACC 11, Fenton 0: In the Metro Suburban West, Jake Smith (2 hits, 2B, 3 RBI), Michael Bieterman (2 hits), Sean Sinisko (2 hits, 3 RBI) and Mario Magana (2B, 2 RBI) led the Chargers (19-10, 12-5) to the win. Siniskoi went 5⅔ innings, allowing 1 hit with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk for the win.

Burlington Central 13, North Boone 0: David Lauber had 2 hits including a grand slam home run and Craig Schuring (2 hits, RB) allowed just 3 hits with 6 strikeouts and no walks to lead the Rockets (17-10, 11-3) to this Big Northern East win. Kyle Creadon added 2 hits with a home run and 2 RBI for BC while Killian Vasica (2B, 3 RBI), Ryan Knowlton (2B) and Paddy McDermitt (3 hits, RBI) also contributed.

Westminster Christian 6, Indian Creek 2: Matthew Schulenburg had 3 hits and Theron Dorsey 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI to lead the Warriors (16-17) to a nonconference win. Mason Runkel added 2 hits with a double and an RBI for Westminster. Eliah Anderson, one of five Warrior pitchers, was credited with the win.

Aurora Christian 8, Timothy Christian 0: Four AC pitchers allowed just 1 hit with Ethan Stoneberg picking up the win in this nonconference game. Drew Wagner (2 hits, RBI), Tanner Dissell (2 hits, RBI), Dustin Barrett (2 hits, 2B, RBI), R.D. Lutze (2 RBI), Drew Henning (2 hits, 2B) and Jacob Daley (2 RBI) led the offense for the Eagles (23-5).
