Softball: Yurgil hit in 10th lifts Burlington Central over DeKalb

Danielle Yurgil's single in the bottom of the 10th inning scored Emily Kisch with the game-winning run as the Burlington Central softball team defeated DeKalb 2-1 Monday in a nonconference game.

Sarah Kinney drove in Yurgil with the game-tying run in the bottom of the seventh for the Rockets (21-8). Kristina Ahlers added 2 hits for the winners.

Kisch allowed 2 hits with 3 strikeouts and no walks and picked up the win in the circle, throwing the final 4 innings in relief of Ashley Ratliff, who allowed 4 hits with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks in 6 innings.

St. Edward 5, Riverside-Brookfield 3: Lindsay Zdroik had 2 hits and 2 RBI while allowing just 1 earned run with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks to lead St. Edward (20-8, 10-4) to a Metro Suburban West win. Mallory Rejman drove in 2 runs and Jackie Boyston had 2 hits for the Green Wave.

Batavia 13, Rosary 2: In a nonconference game, Toni Galas (4 hits, 2B, RBI), Jaelen Lisberg (3 hits, 2B, RBI), Rachael Lovestrand (2 hits, 2B, HR, 5 RBI), Brieann Cruz (2B, RBI), Ashley McNamara (2 hits, HR), Alyssa Klemm (2 hits), Lauren Wencewicz (2 hits, RBI) and Jena Bendoraitis (2 hits, 2B, RBI) led the Bulldogs (18-11) to the win. Lisberg was the winning pitcher, allowing 3 hits with 7 strikeouts.

St. Charles East 22, Elgin 0: In the Upstate Eight River, Rylee Stout had 5 hits with a double and 4 RBI and Sara Campagna added 2 hits with a double and 4 RBI to power the Saints (27-4, 13-3) to the win. Also contributing for SCE were Katie Kolb (2 hits, RBI), Maddie Candre (2 hits, 2 RBI), Megan Daly (2 hits, 2 RBI) and Cat Crossen (2 hits, 2 RBI). Delany Devor picked up the win, allowing just 2 hits with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk in 5 innings.

Cary-Grove 2, Huntley 1: After losing the completion of a suspended game 12-0, Cary-Grove (8-17, 2-8) got a game-winning hit from Taryn Ladd in the ninth inning to hand Huntley (20-8, 9-1) its first Fox Valley Conference Valley Division loss. Jessica Shields had 3 hits for Huntley and Tiffany Giese suffered the loss in the circle.

McHenry 8, CL South 7: Sam Schetti (2 hits) and Samantha Burgard (2 hits, 3 RBI) hit home runs for Crystal Lake South (11-11, 5-5) in this FVC Valley loss.

Hampshire 12, CL Central 11: In the FVC Fox, Jasmine Lopez (2 hits, 3 RBI) and Melissa Esparaza (3 hits, 2 RBI) each hit home runs for Hampshire (16-15, 7-5), which also won the completion of a suspended game 10-5. Elli Lapi (3 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Morgan Haefling (3 hits, 3 RBI), Aly Snider (2 hits, RBI) and Renee Malecke (2 hits) also contributed for the Whip-Purs.

Aurora Christian 16, Chicago Marine 0: Janae Holloway had 3 hits with a home run, double and 7 RBI as the Eagles (4-18) won their Class 1A Lisle regional opener. Also contributing for AC were Tori Camarano (3 hits, 2B, RBI), Sadie Nichols (2 hits, 3B, 2 RBI), Grace Folino (2B) and Ayonna Brown (2 hits, 2 RBI). Raeann Holloway was credited with the win in the circle as she, Camarano and Brianna Rossi combined on a 1-hitter.

Kaneland 11, Plano 0: In a nonconference game, Aly Jesniowski (2 hits, 2B) threw a 3-hitter with 9 strikeouts and 2 walks to lead the Knights (17-13) to the win. Morgan Weber had 2 hits with a double and an RBI for Kaneland while Meg Cohrs had 3 hits with a triple, home run and 5 RBI and MaryLynn Clausen added 2 hits and an RBI.
