Two bicycling events in Schaumburg this week

The village of Schaumburg is recognizing Bike to Work Week and inviting the public to join Mayor Al Larson on a ride to his own workplace - village hall - at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 20.

The route will begin at the Meinecke Recreation Center's bike path at 220 E. Weathersfield Way in Schaumburg. From there, participants will ride with Larson to the municipal grounds at 101 Schaumburg Court.

The public is also invited to join the popular Fahrrad Tour von Schaumburg bike ride, which will kick off at noon Sunday, May 22, from Blackwell Elementary School, 345 N. Walnut Lane in Schaumburg.

The destination is again village hall, where a picnic-style lunch, musical entertainment and children's games will await riders.
