Man in custody after attempted Arlington Heights home invasion

Police had at least one person in custody Sunday in connection with an apparent attempted home invasion on the south side of Arlington Heights as well as a later disturbance at a Palatine bank, authorities said.

Arlington Heights police said a man attempted to break into a house in the 900 block of South Scarsdale Court at approximately 7:45 a.m. The person later fled, setting off a search.

A short time later, police in Palatine contacted Arlington Heights police regarding the capture of a suspect matching the description of the person who attempted to enter the Scarsdale Court residence, police said. That person was captured after an incident at the Chase Bank at the corner of Euclid Avenue and Quentin Road, authorities said.

Police said Sunday they were looking for another possible suspect. There was no report of charges Sunday.

A resident of the Arlington Heights home where the attempted break-in occurred declined to comment.
