Runners brave record cold for 16th annual Rosary 5K

Running against a cold wind, about 100 people pushed through the 40-degree temperatures on Aurora's west side Sunday morning to raise money for Rosary High School scholarships.

The 16th annual Road Scholars 5K Run/Walk, sponsored by the Rosary High School Alumnae Association, drew a hearty field of runners, including the school's entire math department, many alumni and even a few runners who took the 3.1-mile USATF-certified course without shirts.

Entry fees from the event help fund scholarships for incoming students at the Catholic, college-preparatory girls high school in Aurora.
