College of Lake County celebrates graduates

More than 1,800 students received degrees and certificates Saturday during the College of Lake County's 47th annual commencement ceremonies in the Physical Education Center on the Grayslake campus.

James T. Ryan, chairman, president and chief executive officer of W.W. Grainger, Inc., delivered the commencement address.

Commencement consisted of two ceremonies, one in the morning for transfer degrees and the other in the afternoon for other degrees and certificates. In all, the college conferred 2,023 degrees and certificates to 1,854 graduates.

The ceremony also included remarks by CLC President Jerry Weber; CLC Board Chairman William M. Griffin; Connor Mallon, president of the Student Government Association; and Jenny Lee, English instructor and winner of the 2016 Outstanding Full Time Faculty Member.
