St. Charles library showcases local ballerina art exhibit

During the month of May, the St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. Sixth Ave., is hosting an exhibit by Wheaton artist Dianne Matecki of 16 pieces of ballet dancer portraits of area girls.

According to Matecki, the art represented in this exhibit "capture the essence and beauty of young women in their strongest moment."

In 1973, Matecki's love of art began when she first painted flowers on an Easter egg. Over the last 40 years, she sought artistic projects from fabric to paint, teaching herself or being tutored by other artists.

Since 1979, the works of local artists have been on display at the library through its Artist of the Month program.

The exhibit can be seen anytime in May. Library hours are: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call (630) 584-0076.
