Boomers' Brew Fest

Bigby's Pour House hosts the fourth annual Ballpark Brew Fest from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium. The day includes beer samples from more than 50 breweries and live music by Focal Point. General admission tickets cost $45. Get in an hour earlier with a VIP ticket for $75. Crystal Lake Brewing's award

New startup craft brewery Crystal Lake Brewing brought home some hardware from the prestigious World Beer Cup, a recent competition where more than 1,900 breweries from throughout the world were judged. Crystal Lake Brewing brought home the bronze medal in the "Muenchner-Style Helles" category for it's Beach Blonde, a golden lager. The top two finishers were centuries-old German breweries; Crystal Lake Brewing is only 20 months old. Crystal Lake Brewing is at 150 N. Main St., Crystal Lake.
