Softball: Burlington Central, Batavia pick up wins

Emily Kisch improved to 12-3 with a gem against North Boone on Thursday, pitching Burlington Central to a 9-0 win with 14 strikeouts and just 1 hit allowed in 6 innings of a 9-0 win.

Kisch also doubled twice. Kristina Ahlers tripled for the Rockets (19-5, 10-2).

Batavia 12, Streamwood 2: The Bulldogs (17-11, 10-5) gave Kaylan Waldron all the offense she needed with 3 runs in the first inning. Waldron struck out eight and didn't walk a batter.

Leadoff hitter Toni Galas and No. 9 hitter Jessica Kleist both had 3 hits and scored 3 runs. Kleist tripled twice. Waldron helped herself with 3 RBI, and Jena Bendoraitis drove in 2.

Nijal Desai doubled and drove in a run for the Sabres.

Geneva 14, Larkin 0: Rachel Fanella and Alissa Dierks combined on a no-hitter as the Vikings (20-7, 10-5) picked up their 20th victory.

Fanella and Dierks also both doubled while Alyssa Kramer and Sarah Bauer hit home runs. Kramer added a triple as did Katelyn Keller who went 3-for-4.

Cary-Grove 3, Dundee-Crown 2: Colleen Kaveney and Brianne Prank both had 2 hits for the Trojans (7-16). Sydney Ruggles struck out 11 and only allowed 2 earned runs for the Chargers (14-17). Claire Weeks had 2 hits.

DeKalb 2, Kaneland 1: Courtney Davis only allowed 1 earned run and struck out four but took the loss when the Barbs scored with 2 outs in the bottom of the seventh. Meg Cohrs and Hannah Theobald had the only 2 Kaneland (15-13) hits against Morgan Newport.

McHenry 5, Jacobs 3: Emily Borg homered and drove in all 3 runs for the Golden Eagles (8-11).

Bartlett 11, Glenbard East 2: Danielle Kirby picked up the win for the Hawks (17-8) and also drove in 2 runs. Elyse Hickey went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI and walked 3 times, and Taylor Rotondo also drove in 2 runs and scored twice.

Hampshire 9, Grayslake Central 7: The Whip-Purs pulled out the win with 4 runs in the seventh inning. Sarah Bowen and Jasmine Lopez both had 3 hits and homered; Bowen drove in 4 runs. Morgan Haefling and Elli Lopez scored twice.

Jasmine Lopez earned the win.

Huntley 10, Crystal Lake South 0: Sophomore Tiffany Giese threw a 3-hit shutout, striking out seven and walking none for the Red Raiders (19-5, 8-0) who won the Fox Valley Conference Valley title outright.

Riverside-Brookfield 3, Aurora Central Catholic 1: Paige Miller only allowed 1 earned run and Danielle Brown doubled for the Chargers (12-13).
