Arlington Heights police team with neighbors for campaign against underage drinking

Arlington Heights police are teaming up with departments from Buffalo Grove, Prospect Heights and Wheeling, as well as the Link Together Coalition and OMNI Youth Services, to launch a new campaign aimed at changing adult attitudes about giving alcohol to minors.

The "Your Actions Matter!" campaign began Thursday to remind parents that providing alcohol to minors or allowing them to drink it in your home is against the law.

Students and local police officers will be hanging posters and other youth-designed campaign materials in participating stores across Illinois that sell liquor. Arlington Heights and several other communities recently raised the penalties for parents caught allowing underage drinking in their homes.

Arlington Heights parents could be fined up to $5,000 for letting kids drink
