AM Taxi's mixtape

Nearly a decade ago, suburban natives Adam Krier and Jason Schultejann took a step sideways from their Lucky Boys Confusion roots to focus more on solid Chicago rock with AM Taxi. The new sound, which now includes Jay Marino on guitar and the drum skills of Chris Smith, pulls from nostalgia and adulthood on the Chicago scene, focusing on that place where life isn't quite the idealistic haven you expected it to be. The band's new "Semi-Confessional (Mixtape)" paints a clear picture of that feeling, enhanced by some intensely local details. Featuring cameos from Genevieve Schatz (formerly of Company of Thieves), Sublime's Michael "Miguel" Happoldt and iconic folk-rocker Ike Reilly, the new EP also shares work by and is something of a tribute to the late Joe Sell, LBC's guitarist who passed away in May 2012. Hear the new songs, which will be distributed the night of the show on that perfect mixtape medium, the cassette tape, when AM Taxi is joined by Crosstown, The Scissors and Blood People at Double Door, 1572 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago. $5. (773) 489-3160 or doubledoor.com. 8 p.m. Friday, May 13
