Dist. 214 DECA students return from nationals with awards

Several High School District 214 students returned with awards from DECA's National Career Development Competition held Nashville during April.

Elk Grove High School junior Connor Cloherty represented the state of Illinois in his event, Restaurant and Food Service Management and took stage and medaled in his role-play this year. Connor qualified at the national level in DECA's competitive events as a freshman and this is his third consecutive year as a national qualifier.

John Hersey High School senior Sophie Shepley finished in the top 10 in the nation on the Buying & Merchandising exam. This was her second consecutive year qualifying for the national competition with her partner, Julia Hapanowicz, who is also a senior.

Prospect High School senior Jonathan Ampalloor achieved a top 10 finish in Human Resources Management at nationals. He has been a member of DECA for the past three years and competed last year at the national competition.

Rolling Meadows sophomore Kris Papa made it to the finals in Marketing Management Series Event. This was Kris' second year in DECA and first-time competing at the national level.
