2016 Lombard Garden Club Lilac Sale was Sold Out in Two Days

People traveled from all over to take part in the 2016 Lombard Garden Club Lilac Sale. The sale was scheduled for Thurs. May 5, Fri. May 6 and Sat. May 7. The Lilac bushes only lasted until Friday afternoon, May 6. The entire stock was sold out! Garden Club President, Cindy Ward said, "Lilac lovers came from near and far, some even driving two hours to get to the sale!" Ward extends many thanks to the following people who made the sale the success for 2016: Rose Roth and Velta Kopeck (co-chairmen of Ways and Means), Pat Cekal, Gertie Janik, Barbara Lewandowski, Jean Nelson, Joan Nurczyk, Joey Dawn Preins, and Joanne Roper. She also thanks Lombard Park District's Bill Sosnowski and his staff for all the behind the scenes work and manpower! This sale is the largest ways and means project the garden club sponsors and the money earned is used to beautify Lombard and for scholarships to Lombard high school students who are going in to the field of horticulture. Look for more activities that will take place during the club's 90th Anniversary Year.
