Huntley man identified as victim in fatal pileup

Illinois State Police have identified the man killed in a four-vehicle pileup Friday on the Kennedy Expressway as 22-year-old Griffin Krewer of Huntley.

Krewer was driving a Dodge Caravan when he struck a Ford pickup truck on the inbound expressway at about 7:30 a.m. near Harlem Avenue.

The crash and investigation closed the inbound Kennedy for several hours during the morning rush hour.

Krewer was driving at a "significant" rate of speed in the far right lane, police said. After the initial collision, the pickup hit a Chevrolet Cruze that smacked into a Ford Explorer. A 42-year-old Chicago man driving the Cruze was treated for injuries.

Krewer's Facebook page indicated he attended Crystal Lake South High School and previously lived in Lake in the Hills.

Krewer was wearing his seat belt, police said Saturday.
