Salvation Army Tri-City Corps to honor volunteers

The Salvation Army Tri-City Corps in St. Charles will host its annual Volunteer & Donor Appreciation Dinner on Friday, May 20, at the Tri-City Corps Joe K. Anderson Community Center, 1710 S. Seventh Ave., St. Charles.

The reception begins at 6 p.m. with the dinner and program at 6:30 p.m.

They will give thanks and acknowledge the donors and volunteers who have allowed The Salvation Army in continuing its mission of "Doing the Most Good."

This year's distinguished speaker will be Bob "Butterbean" Love, NBA three-time All Star legend, Chicago Bulls Goodwill Ambassador, community advocate, author and Salvation Army supporter.

He will discuss the importance of having support and involvement in our local communities and the great impact it makes for those most in need.

The Salvation Army appreciation dinner is completely free for volunteers and donors as just one way to show that their impact and support throughout the year, especially during the Christmas campaign, is vital and valued.

Special highlights also include awards such as the Joe K. Anderson Volunteer Award, Christmas Volunteer Bell ringer Awards and more.

The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian church established in 1865, has been supporting those in need without discrimination for more than 150 years worldwide.

Millions of Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through the array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children.
