Sun City Model Train Club to host spring open house May 15

The Sun City Model Train Club will host its annual Spring Open House from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 15.

The G-scale members (Garden Scale) are in the final stages of taking back their layout from the squirrels and chipmunks and making final repairs on their buildings and structures. N-scale members continue to add buildings and scenery. O-gauge is undergoing a major reconstruction project aimed at enhancing and expanding their layout even more and HO-gauge members have completed the new dispatchers board.

So make plans now to come down and spend a spring Sunday afternoon with us.

If you can't make the open house on May 15 or you just can't get enough of the model trains, the kickoff date for Sunday operations will be May 22, the weekend after the spring open house, and it will continue throughout the summer. As in the past, operating hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Note, Sunday operations will be dependent on weather conditions and availability of train crews. The club will continue to post the sign "Trains are Running" at the entrance to the baseball parking lot. They also will post a notice on the Sun City website every Friday by noon. It will appear in the "Charter Club Happenings" section on the bottom of the Sun City home page at sccah.com.

Both events will be held in the backyard and basement of the Millgrove Woodshop, 13400 Sun City Blvd. in Huntley. Admission is free but they ask that children be accompanied by adults. Guests may call (847) 669-2392 or log on to the Sun City website at sccah.com to get updates for upcoming events.
