19-year sentence for 3 restaurant burglaries

A 44-year-old man was sentenced to 19 years in prison after admitting to three smash-and-grab burglaries in Aurora, St. Charles and Montgomery.

Christopher M. Sullivan, of the 1300 block of Hinckley Street, pleaded guilty this week to burglarizing a restaurant Jan. 25 on the 3700 block of West Main Street in St. Charles, along with burglaries Feb. 13 and Feb. 18 of restaurants on the 800 block of South River Street in Aurora and the 600 block of Montgomery Road, Montgomery, respectively.

Prosecutors said in each of the burglaries, Sullivan would break through a glass door or window; he then stole cash, televisions, liquor and scratch-off Lottery tickets.

Kane County Judge James Hallock accepted the guilty plea on Wednesday; Sullivan faced an extended term because of his previous criminal record. He also was on parole at the time of the crimes.

Under Illinois law, Sullivan can have his sentence halved for good behavior. He also gets credit for 97 days served at the Kane County jail while the cases were pending.
