Elementary student technology projects showcaased at state capitol

Students from Betsy Ross and Anne Sullivan Schools will be presenting their technology projects to the judges of the Springfield Tech 2016, a not-for-profit initiative supported by education and business organizations. This event was created in 1990 allowing students to demonstrate for the public, elected officials and business leaders how technology is used in schools.The purpose for this event is to raise awareness of the role technology plays in education today and to help increase the funding needed in schools.

This event will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Illinois State Capitol. Presentations can be viewed from 10 - 3 at no cost.

Second grade students student from Mrs. Walsh's classroom at Betsy Ross School have been collaborating with fifth grade students from Mrs. Kaspari's classroom at Anne Sullivan School to create book trailers for the nominated books of the 2017 Monarch Award, an Illinois K - 3 Readers Choice Award. Students used a variety of applications and web-based sites to entice others to read these nominated books.

About Our Schools: Anne Sullivan School and Betsy Ross School:

Anne Sullivan School is a fourth and fifth grade level center. There are about 350 students who attend this school. Betsy Ross School is a 2nd and 3rd grade level center with about 360 students.
