Softball: Geneva, Dundee-Crown, West Aurora pick up wins
Alissa Dierks finished with 4 strikeouts while allowing just 1 walk in Geneva's 11-1 Upstate Eight Conference River Division win over Streamwood on Wednesday.
Geneva (16-6, 8-4) didn't score until putting 5 runs on the board in the fourth. The Vikings added 3 in the fifth and 3 in the sixth.
Taylor Mraz led the Vikings with 3 hits; Megan White, Dierks, Katie Keller and Kate Geary all had 2.
The Sabres fell to 9-13 despite a 2-hit game from Becky Roncone.
Dundee-Crown 4, Crystal Lake Central 3: The top three hitters in Dundee-Crown's lineup - Andrea Conway, Claire Weeks and Sydney Ruggles - combined for all 8 Charger hits.
Conway homered and doubled, and Weeks and Ruggles both had doubles. Ruggles was the winning pitcher allowing 12 hits and 1 walk with 6 strikeouts for the Chargers (13-12).
West Aurora 20, East Aurora 1: The Blackhawks (18-1, 11-0) scored 7 times in the first inning and never looked back.
Sarah Hansen went 4-for-4 to lead the 16-hit attack. Cara Jimenez homered and drove in 3 runs, and Kallie Rundle, Jamie McCreedy and Payton Lundberg all had 2 hits.
Libby Zoppa picked up the win, striking out eight and walking none.
