Baseball: South Elgin scores 4 in 7th to beat Bartlett

A bases-loaded walk scored Kevin Barry with the game-winning run and culminated a 4-run bottom of the seventh inning as South Elgin defeated Bartlett 5-4 Tuesday in an Upstate Eight Conference Valley Division baseball game in South Elgin.

Leading the offense for the Storm (12-7, 6-1) were Justin Howard (2 hits, 2B, RBI) and Michael Cipriani (2 hits, 2 RBI). Dylan Wells picked up the win on the mound allowing 5 hits with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Cameron Mays had a double and an RBI for Bartlett (6-15, 3-4) while Austin Hilvert and Tripp Paris each added doubles.

St. Charles East 8, Streamwood 0: Matt Breidigan wen 5 innings and allowed just 2 hits with 3 strikeouts and 3 walks, Corbin Marucco had 2 hits and an RBI and Joe Sciarrino 2 hits and 3 RBI to lead the Saints (16-7, 7-3) to a UEC River win. Carlos Pasillas, John Carroll and Thomas Adams each had doubles for SCE. Ryan Fitzgerald had 2 hits for Streamwood (6-14, 2-8).

St. Charles North 13, Elgin 1: In the UEC River, Brandon Norberg had 2 hits while John LeGare had a double and 3 RBI and Sam Faith added a double to lead the North Stars (19-3, 12-1) to the win. Zach Fick also drove in 2 runs and Erik Rabin added 2 hits and an RBI for SCN. Jack Lambert was the winning pitcher, allowing 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk. Elgin fell to 5-17 overall and 4-6 in the division.

West Aurora 11, East Aurora 4: Logan Love (2 doubles, 2 RBI), Connor Palmby (2B, 2 RBI) and Cody Wyeth (2 doubles, 2 RBI) each had 3 hits to lead West Aurora (7-11, 4-4) to this UEC Valley victory. Ryan Becker (2 hits, 2B), Jake Arsenault (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Matt Desjardine (2 hits, 2B, 3 RBI) and JJ Rivera (2B, RBI) also contributed for the Blackhawks. Love was the winning pitcher, going 5 innings and allowing 7 hits with 4 strikeouts and no walks.

Cary-Grove 7, McHenry 6: Mark Smith scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Trojans (16-7, 7-2) prevailed in this Fox Valley Conference Valley Division game. Tyler Pennington had a 2-run home run for C-G while Quinn Celske (2 hits, 2B) and Tom Neilson (2B) also contributed. Max Neilson was the winning pitcher.

CL Central 7, Jacobs 3: Adam Kale had 2 hits with an RBI and Kraeton Moll added a double and an RBI for Jacobs (14-9, 5-5) in this FVC Valley loss. Brenden Heiss was the losing pitcher.

CL South 4, Huntley 2 (susp.): The Gators were at bat in the top of the seventh inning when this FVC Valley game was suspended by darkness. It will be complete Wednesday prior to the teams' regularly scheduled game.

Prairie Ridge 4, Hampshire 1: Carter Lawler, Kevin Michaelsen and Jakob Kostecki had the only hits for Hampshire (11-11, 5-7) in its FVC Fox loss. Michael Kruse took the loss despite allowing just 1 earned run on 5 hits while striking out 10 and walking 3.

Burlington Central 6, Harvard 2: Winning pitcher Craig Schuring (6 IP, 5 hits, 11 Ks, 1 BB) had 3 hits and 3 RBI to lead the Rockets (14-7, 9-1) to a Big Northern East win. David Lauber had a double and an RBI and Killian Vasica added 3 hits with a double and an RBI for BC.

DeKalb 5, Kaneland 4: In the Northern Illinois Big XII East, Luke Calabrese had 2 hits with a double and Jack Marshall added a double and 2 RBI for Kaneland (9-7, 5-2).

ACC 9, Glenbard South 7: Michael Bieterman (3 hits, 4 RBI) and Sean Sinisko (2 RBI) each hit home runs for Aurora Central (14-9, 8-5) in this Metro Suburban West win. Jimmy Laurent (2 hits, 2B), Jake Smith (2 hits), Ryan Poplawski (2B, RBI) and Kyle Czerak (2 hits, RBI) also contributed for the Chargers.

Riverside-Brookfield 8, St. Edward 0: Jason Allen and Joe Esposito had the only hits for St. Edward (4-20, 1-15) in its Metro Suburban loss.

Harvest Christian 3, Alden-Hebron 2: Winning pitcher Brock Wilken (RBI) and Dayne Frederick each had 2 hits while Drew Lewis (RBI) and Joey Pepper (RBI) each had doubles to lead the Lions (15-10, 6-6) to this Northeastern Athletic Conference win.

Elgin Academy 12, North Shore Country Day 2: Winning pitcher Jonathan Cruz had 3 hits and 3 RBI, Jordan Hare added 2 hits with a double and Kevin Kuykendall had 2 hits and 2 RBI to lead the Hilltoppers (17-5) to an Independent School League win. Karl Rauschenberger added 2 hits and Andrew Wilson had 2 hits with a double and 4 RBI for EA. Cruz struck out 9, walked 1 and allowed 8 hits in earning the win.
