Mundelein High newspaper wins top award

Mundelein High School's student newspaper staff has earned a top prize in a national student journalism contest.

The staff of the Mustang received a First Place with Special Merit Award for Most Outstanding High School Newspaper in its enrollment class from the American Scholastic Press Association.

The Mustang earned 950 out of a possible 1,000 points from the judges, school officials said. Michelle Didzbalis serves as the newspaper's faculty adviser.

To other suburban high school newspapers - the Viator Voice at St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights and the Southwords at Maine South High School in Park Ridge - also were among the 26 student publications from across the country to earn the recognition.
