Waukegan museum plan gets financial boost

The Waukegan Historical Society announced Monday that two anonymous donors have graciously offered a $10,000 matching donation for the ongoing fundraising efforts to expand the Waukegan History Museum and Research Library.

The donors will match dollar for dollar, until the total contribution of $10,000 is met, from now until the Society's Waukegan Tour of Homes on Sunday, June 26.

To date, the Waukegan Historical Society has raised more $120,000 for the expansion project. The addition to the museum, 1917 N. Sheridan Road, will include dedicated space for both permanent and temporary exhibits, space for special events, environmentally controlled space for museum collections, elevator access to the upper floor of the museum, and public access from both levels of Bowen Park.

The Waukegan History Museum is operated by the Waukegan Historical Society and the Waukegan Park District. For more information or to donate, visit www.waukeganhistorical.org.
