Lisle man charged with endangering life of child after DUI stop

A Lisle man is charged with DUI and endangering the life of a child after a traffic stop.

Police say Deundre Douglas, of 2501 Beau Bien Blvd., was intoxicated at 10:19 p.m. Friday as he drove north on Route 53 to eastbound Ogden Avenue. His 8-year-old daughter was asleep in the front seat.

Douglas, 35, told police he was returning to Lisle from a family reunion in Joliet, despite turning east on Ogden when his apartment was west of the intersection.

"Our officer happened to be behind his vehicle when he turned from northbound Route 53 to eastbound Ogden Avenue," said Deputy Chief Ron Wilke. "This turn was executed from the center lane instead of the actual turn lane. Our officer followed the vehicle and observed more weaving prior to the traffic stop."

Wilke said Douglas began field sobriety tests on the scene but complained of a medical issue so no further tests were conducted. He also refused to provide a breath sample.

After being processed, Douglas was released on bond with a June 1 court date in DuPage County.
