Dundee Lions to remember Helen Keller Thursday

Gene Tester, a retired historian and member of Dundee Township Lions Club, is presenting a program on Helen Keller on Thursday, May 5, at the Village Squire in West Dundee.

His program will include stories, pictures, letters and books signed by Helen Keller. There also will be video clips of Helen Keller speaking. This program is based on actual interviews while on a train ride in 1947 with Miss Keller. This information came into Gene's family via an aunt who was Helen Keller's personal nurse at Mayo Clinic.

The name Helen Keller is known around the world as a symbol of courage and one of the most admired women of the 20th century. The Lions are proud to carry on her legacy in helping the blind and deaf.

The public is invited to attend this presentation. Dinner, which is $15, starts at 6:30 p.m. with the presentation at 7:15 p.m. Guests are also able to attend just the program. Please call ahead for reservations by Wednesday as seating is limited. Jim McClung, Lion president, will take reservations at (847) 567-7127.
